Class Offerings Smart Fingers
Robotics offers the following classes and workshops. All classes are by reservation only. LEGO RoboticsStudents have fun learning to build and program robots using the LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT robotics kit and laptop computers. Students will build a robot from scratch, and learn to program and modify it for a series of fun activities. No
experience is necessary, and all equipment is provided.
Ages: 9+ Advanced LEGO RoboticsFor students who have completed the LEGO Robotics class or similar training, the Advanced LEGO Robotics class allows students to grow their skills and choose from a number of fun and challenging projects. Students can come up with their own project idea and get help building and programming it, choose from a number of existing project ideas, and/or join with other students in mini-competitions such as Robot Sumo, Races, and Challenge Courses. Students will also learn how to control a robot using a LEGO remote control that they design and program themselves. Students can use
their own LEGO Mindstorms kit and or/laptop (good if they are also
working on the project at home), or borrow a kit and/or computer
from us.
Ages: 9+ FIRST LEGO League MentoringFor teams participating in FIRST LEGO League (FLL), we offer free technical mentoring classes, customized to the goals and experience level of your team. Team members can learn more about building or programming LEGO robots, so they can apply what they learn to their own designs. Coaches can participate as well, so they can better help their team troubleshoot their team's designs. We can provide up to 6 starter robots and 6 laptops for use in the class, or you can bring your own. Contact us to discuss your goals and reserve a class.
Ages: Registered FLL team
members and coaches Custom Group WorkshopFor a group of up to 12 people, we offer full day or half-day custom workshops, customized to the goals and experience of your group. Groups can include clubs, FIRST LEGO League teams, school groups, birthday parties, or any group that enrolls together. We can provide up to 6 starter robots or sets of LEGO MINDSTORMS parts, and 6 laptops. Contact us for details, discuss your goals, and to schedule a workshop.
